My Story

The Change I Want to See in the World
My passion is in helping entrepreneurs find the path to flourishing. Entrepreneurs are in a unique position to positively influence those who work for them.
Books That Greatly Influenced My Life
The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself - Joe Dispenza, Essentialism by Greg McKeown
Fun Facts About Me
I have 6 beautiful kids, 3 boys and 3 girls. I have finished Lotoja, a 200 mile one-day road bike race (the kind you pedal), 5 times. :) I love the outdoors and live on the Snake River, not far from Yellowstone National Park. I also LOVE ketchup on my grilled cheese sandwiches. :) I am so grateful.

Personal information

Bio
I have been an entrepreneur for 20+ years now, starting and operating three successful companies. One home health agency (Arbor Senior Care), another a satisfaction management/analytics firm for the home care industry (Home Care Pulse, now the largest home care satisfaction firm in North America), and finally an Executive Leadership Coaching firm (VUE Advisors) that I currently own and operate. For 15-years I have presented at nearly 100 healthcare conferences on subjects ranging from leadership to the caregiver shortage crisis.

Being involved with each of these businesses, particularly Home Care Pulse, has fueled a passion to help other entrepreneurs create sustainable flourishing lives, that not only impact them but the lives of those they influence. I see MAPP as one of the most important steps towards making a larger positive impact in the lives of entrepreneurs and the great people they employ.

I am the recipient of the Sheila McMackin Leadership Award, which recognizes one person per year, for outstanding leadership, impact and vision in the in-home care industry.

Father of 6 kids, married to my sweetheart for 26-years, and love to bike and explore the outdoors.

Capstone title and abstract
"The Aspiring Entrepreneur Model (AEM) for Flourishing"

The entrepreneurial experience is not for the faint of heart. Due to the stress associated with starting a new business, it can challenge the well-being of even the best intended entrepreneurs, especially those early on in their journey, whom I call aspiring entrepreneurs (AE). It is possible for an AE to flourish, where they thrive and continue to grow through the experience, as long as they invest in certain key well-being dimensions that positive psychology researchers and practitioners have identified as foundational to entrepreneurial flourishing. This paper explores three of these dimensions, (1) purpose in life, (2) autonomy, and (3) positive relationships with others; and provides a literature review on their potential impact of the AE’s ability to flourish, even during difficult trials and challenges.
