Change the Music, Change the Dance

Robert E. Quinn
Center for Positive Organizations

Ross School of Business

Students of the positive sciences desire to apply their knowledge and make the world a better place. Doing so is surprising difficult. Relationships, teams, organizations and communities are governed by conventional cultures. The findings of the positive sciences represent a nonconventional perspective.

Application requires more than expertise. It requires the ability to use transformative influence and stimulate deep change. In this presentation I will draw from two new books to show how we can all be more effective. I will also focus on two tools, one that turns conventional people into leaders and another that turns conventional organizations into positive organizations.
